Hi,
I'm using Proxmox Backup Client on a Debian virtual machine on Proxmox VE to backup a quite large NFS share (~ 10 Tb) mounted on the VM.
The backup works, but it's very slow.
First backup took a very long time (~ 12 days) and it's expected, but even next backups are taking so long: at the...
I recently started a cluster and am sharing directories mounted at ZFS via NFS.
Here are my config details. I am on 192.168.1.24 and am mounting a share from 192.168.1.129
This is the error I get when backing up my LXC
Hi Proxmox,
First off, I would like to take a moment to show much appreciation for this VE. Whilst I've banged my head through many walls and scoured many corners of the internet for guidance, Proxmox has allowed me to learn so many new things regarding Linux, VE, (re-learn) Networking and many...
I have added a node to a cluster. Both nodes are running PVE 6.4-8 and I am sharing my disks using ZFS over NFS. I have connected to the respective NFS shares and can see their disks on my node but apparently do not have the right permissions and I'm not certain what those would even entail...
I have my Synology NAS connected to my proxmox server, as an NFS share. Works fine as storage location for virtual machines and their backups. However, I cannot choose this location as the storage-location for LXC containers. Why is that? Am I doing something wrong here? When I click on the...
Hello,
We experienced three kernel crashes during guests backup of two distinct Proxmox VE fully-updated 6.4 hosts running on 5.4.114-1-pve Linux kernel. Backups are using the stop mode and a NFS mount. Other hosts running Proxmox VE 6.3 on Linux 5.4.106-1-pve did not triggered the problem...
I have a Ubuntu Desktop VM with two hard disks. Both reside on an NFS server and the connection is 10GbE. One disk is in raw format and one in qcow2 format. The image files are called vm-106-disk-0.raw and vm-106-disk-0.qcow2. Both are 200 GB in size and attached using VirtIO SCSI controller and...
I'm currently using a OviOS Linux as my main NFS storage and PBS as virtual machine. I'd like to continue to use network storage as my backup target. How would add my NFS share to the Proxmox Backup Server as storage?
Hi, in the syslog on PBS I see this line:
mount[19260]: mount to NFS server '10.0.70.13' failed: Operation not supported, retrying
The ip 10.0.70.13 is a PBS, and the message appears if I mount an NFS share to it.
fstab:
10.0.70.7:/home/bitrix/www /mnt/www nfs...
Hi,
I am very very worried because I cannot restore several LXCs from a backup done on PBS.
Here is the error I get:
recovering backed-up configuration from 'pbs:backup/ct/109/2021-04-18T05:00:02Z'

Hi folks,
I did set up a TrueNAS Core VM (version: TrueNAS-12.0-U2.1, FreeBSD 12.2-RELEASE-p3) with 2TB SSD passthrough from the Proxmox host (version: 6.3-6). Inside this VM I created a CIFS share in order to back up other VMs to. To test its functions I mounted the share on Linux and could...
Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a pickle.
I'll start by going over my setup:
- Storage server running TrueNas with 10Gb networking
- ZFS pools
- One pool with 12x 2TB drives in raidz2 (storage B)
- Another pool with 3x 400GB ssds in stripe (storage A)
- Single hypervisor
- Boot disk is 400GB NVMe...
Hallo liebe Proxmox Nation :)
I have been trying to find this info but all examples point to adding a pve user, and when I try to add the pam user to the pve group it says, not to anyones surprise, that the user doesn't exists.
And if I add the user in the GUI as a PAM user that user does not appear when listing users in the...
Hello,
This weekend I finished configuring most of my personal server ( which is for development and fun so I don't care about security much ).. It was previously working as a nas server with Freenas and had rancher as docker host vm..
Although I wanted to have a full hypervisor with PCI-E...
Yesterday we upgraded our entire Proxmox Cluster from PVE 5.4-5 to PVE 5.4-15 and Corosync to 3.x. Since then NFS mounts on some nodes are occasionally not available. Anyone else having similar problems? - We are now deleting/adding the NFS mounts again. Hope that will resolve the issues.
I see a lot of organization using NFS instead of ISCSI for vms and data storage. It's apparently more to ease operations: backup can be done on the vm files and do not require a separate server. Is this true? How much performance you are really losing when using NFS instead of ISCSI?
The only...
I acquired a Tiny/Mini/Micro PC to be my starter homelab, nothing fancy just a 4-core i5 from 2012 and 16gb non-ecc ddr3 with a 1TB SATA SSD (The SSD cost almost as much as the PC itself).
Goal is for this to be various things including PiHole, backup of other devices, log collection and...
After seeing Backup Server go GA, I was immediately interested in putting it to use in my home/lab environment.
Currently my storage server backs up to warm storage over sftp with Duplicacy and it has some amazing compression+deduplication. It's also cross-machine deduplicating so any machines...
I recently discovered that a lot of people around me are using nfs instead of iscsi on a PVE platform. The main reason for it seems that it’s easier to backup an nfs-based solution thaan an iscsi one, since on The remote disk everything is a file. Is this a general trend?
What would bring...
