Is there a way to run fsck on a linux vm? As I understand it, the vm can't be running because the vm's system disk has to be unmounted before checking it with fsck. So I'm thinking I have to leave the vm shutdown. Can I fsck the vm's disk from the Proxmox console?

Good morning all! I'm having problems with an Open Media Vault VM on Proxmox and am seeking advice on how to debug the issue. I have an OMV 6.0.latest VM running on Proxmox 7.4-3. The OMV VM is configured to serve up multiple CIFS shares. The harddisks behind the shares appear to be working...
I'm hoping to add a custom screen resolution for viewing the console of a VM. The VM is running Ubuntu 23 MATE, and I'm currently using NoVNC for viewing. I have the VM configured as follows...

Good morning all. I just rebuilt my Proxmox server after a hardware failure (bad SSD). I'm up and running again witn Proxmox 7.3-1. I'm running into an issue with the backup function. I started a backup of 5 VMs last night. As of now, 12 hours later, it has still not finished! No errors...
I'm in disaster-recovery mode, and have a question. My Proxmox node (v6) no longer recognizes some of its VM's, and I wish I had newer backups. If I try to create backups, I just get error messages.
Can I do something like this...

Hi everyone. I'm getting an error message when I try to create a VM: Check of pool satassd/data failed (status:1). Manual repair required!
I tried running lvconvert --repair pve/data. However, this gives the error: Active pools cannot be repaired. Use lvchange -an first.
So, I ran lvchange...
Is it possible to shrink the size of a thin-pool? I need to extend the pool's metadata LV, so I want to reduce the data LV to make room. Right now, the data LV is leaving the PV and VG with no free space.
Can I do this with lvreduce? Is there a file system on the data LV that I need to...

Has anyone tried to run a Linux Mint Cinnamon VM with Proxmox? I get a "software rendering" error because the VM doesn't "see" the integrated GPU of my host Intel chip. Does proxmox virtualize the integrated GPU (or can it be set up to do this)?
Thanks,
Eric

I'm new to Proxmox and am trying to provision a blank SSD disk as LVM-thin storage for VMs. I think I have figured out what to do, but would like to double-check before actually doing it. Here is what I think I need to do. (The entire SSD has been partitioned as /dev/sda1 with GPT)
pvcreate...
I am having a problem getting PVE to recognize my new SSD storage device. I've installed a Samsung SSD and have formatted it as EXT4 (single partition, GPT). In PVE, I can go to the tab for my server and the new SSD shows up under "Disks" as expected. Now, I want to use the new SSD to store...
I'm wondering if anyone has been able to use SPICE from an OSX (Macintosh) client. i have a Proxmox server running an Ubuntu18.04 desktop VM. I'd like to access this via SPICE from OSX, but I'm not finding a suitable client. anyone know how to get this working?
Thanks
Eric
I'm setting up a home server, and am trying to use Proxmox for the first time. I want to install Zoneminder as a VM or container, so I did a "create CT" and selected the Turnkey Zoneminder container.
It won't install, and I'm getting weird errors (see below). Where am I going wrong?
Thanks...
