When I look at the disks I have available on a particular node I see there is the option to initialize them with GPT.
I'm still new and not really clear on how this works. Usually we manually add the extra disks with LVM to the existing VG.
What exactly does the option do?

I've copied over an old proxmox server to a new one the backup file.
Then I restore it via the gui but instead of storing it under the LVM which I got plenty of space it is under the local disk.
How can I transfer the existing VM under the LVM? All I need is to point/move the disk from...
Our Server has 4 no's of 10TB HDD and with RAID1 so 2 drives
My question is about creating the Storage for the VMs,

I've been testing Proxmox 5.0 for the last few days, experimenting with a few of the machines I have.
I have two Dell EqualLogic PS-M4110 arrays in a Dell m1000e chassis with 9 physical blades also in the blade chassis. The PS-M4110 only supports iSCSI. Each of the blades has an onboard nic...
Debian stretch (9) 64bit was installed for me and i would like to install Proxmox VE on it according to this tutorial: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_Stretch
First issue i have as a a Linux partitioning, LVM and Proxmox newbie following that tutorial is:
Currently my setup is:
m.2 SSD with Proxmox install
SATA SSD with LVM VMs
I want to reinstall Proxmox over ZFS and am wondering how to move over my VMs.
Is it as simple as backing up to external media using the built in backup function and then restoring?
Is there a better way to go...
Hi everyone, and thank you for a fantastic distribution!
I have used ProxMox for a while now on a test server, and it seems to work flawlessly.
Today I decided to add a new harddrive to the system, and in the process of adding the new drive to LVM, I accidentally typed the wrong number when...
I'll get right to the point:
LXC's has a lot of hard limits when it comes to RAM/CPU/SIZE. This is not something I am used to, managing LXC's "without" a manager. I usually dont set limits unless I know there will be a re source problem. Is it possible to create LXC's without setting...
I've two servers directly connected to a dot-hill fiber channel array.
I'd like to setup this storage as clustered lvm and NOT with a clustered
filesystem like ocfs or gfs, exposing all luns to all servers.
1- is it possible?
2- if yes, I've to use lvm (creating vg on a...
We're using Proxmox 4.x with both LXC containers and KVM
machines. It seems that the way partitioning is handled has changed
since Proxmox 3.x.
We have some data that we need to share between a few of these
LXC containers; so I have a set up mp0 in /etc/pve/lxc/*.conf for

I'm using Proxmox at home as homelab server. I now bought a new SSD and want to migrate the installation to this new SSD. But I don't have an USB adapter, so I'd need to do an offline backup and restore to the new drive. How should I go about this? My setup is a single physical server...
I'm running a testnode (bare Jessie with a special partition layout) and it was running smooth and shiny with kernel 4.4.35-2, absolutely no issues and all the lvm commands were as quick as usual.
But after upgrading to kernel-4.4.49, suddenly all lvm related commands took way too...
I would like to create a backup of my proxmox server with clonezilla, but when the backup is finished, at the end of the image check, clonezilla says to me :
