Hello, there are 11 vms on my Ryzen 7 5800x, how can I virtualize them in the most efficient way? Most of my users have a minecraft server. I can't have performance problems. What is your suggestion? How should I adjust settings such as processor settings?
I am new to Proxmox, coming from a VMware / Hyper-V background.
During evaluation tests I came accross the following issue:
When running a certain workload in a LXC container I get degraded CPU performance compared against a QEMU / Hyper-V VM.
After some research / benchmarking...
I have a question about type's of CPU.
We have the server: MicroBlade MBI-6128R-T2X
Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2640 v4 @ 2.40GHz, Speed: 2400 MHzб Core: 10) *2
Memory: Max Capable Speed: 2400 MHz, Operating Speed: 2133 MHz, Size: 32768 MB, Serial No.: 03DA7CCB, Part No...
to get Ubuntu to work under Windows 10 (and avoid the "Please enable the virtual Machine Platform Windows feature and ensure virtualization in the BIOS"), I have to set the cpu type to host.
But then guest if very slow.
Which is expected according to Proxmox staff @Stefan_R ...
Why the guest vms CPU score in geekbench 5 is soo low and not even half of what we are expecting..?
Anyone have same issue?
We have tried all CPU type like KVM64, Qemu64 ,Host etc.
But results not changed
For these CPU the scores are very low
I'm using proxmox 6.4.13 with Ubuntu 18.04 as VM, Tableau server is installed there.
It all worked fine, but the latest upgrade of Tableau is not successful with message:
Further explanation on Tableau support is saying:
I don't find in proxmox documentation how to configure CPU...
Curious: has anyone done an analysis of what the memory and processors utilization differentials are between a virtual machine and an LXC container?
I think it would be interesting to see how much more RAM a large and small virtual machine may use compared to both a large and small a container...
Hi, I've noticed that the CPU performance of the VMs is well below what it should be.
I have a newer one that has a CPU with less performance than this newer one, and the VM on geekbench delivers what it should deliver. A VPS on the newer one has less performance than the previous generation...
I have Proxmox VE 7.0 running on PC with AMD Threadripper 2920X (12C/24T). SMT (or Hyperthreading) is enabled. CPU has two NUMA nodes. I have two VMs:
1. WIndows 10 VM for gaming and work.
2. Linux VM that is hosting game, web and mail servers.
Both VMs have high CPU utilization. Windows...
I'm trying to get a reading of my cpu temperature but nothing seems to work really in Proxmox. My hardware is as follows:
- Ryzen 9 5950X
- Gigabyte Auorus B550M Pro-p
I have updated everything to the newest state with:
Then i tried to get a...
I'm very new to Proxmox and Hypervisors in general. VMs install and run with no issues when the CPU type is set to Default KVM64, but setting to Host (or if I specify the processor type as Westmere, which it is, it errors the same way) will result in an error when installing OS after the reboot...
There is one ms windows vm which behaves quite peculiar. Changing the CPU away from anything kvm64 (> host) results in an inability to boot. Even a reboot into safe mode use msconfig does not work as per usual.
Despite having configured a windows10 .iso to boot from the 'press any key to boot...
I have promox, and I have the following processor: Intel Xeon D-1521, But Promox only detects that I only have 2 threads when I have 8. So I would like to know how to modify this, I have already looked a little on the forum, but found nothing :).
I attach you a screenshot of Iscpu
I have Proxmox VE 6.3-3 running on a Dell Server with an Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2680 v3 (2x 12 core). Hyperthreading is enabled, so a maximum of 48 cores are available.
What is the correct configuration to allow a VM to use all 48 cores? I tried setting Sockets to 2 and Cores to 24...
Hallo Proxmox Community!
Was...
I got a new server and found some issues during loading and adding new VMs.
At first it froze, but after Proxmox upgrading it restarts automatically. It prints 'Start all VMs and Containers' in the tasks.
Provider tested its hardware and didn't found any problems. But I can see mce: [Hardware...
We are looking to enable hotplug for the CPU for KVM guests. I've seen that it's only possible with vCPU and not Sockets nor Cores.
Assuming the host has 32 cores, would it be best practice to set
and set the vCPU to 6 or according to the guest CPU need.
If I understand...
