Running fsck on a Linux vm

Is there a way to run fsck on a linux vm? As I understand it, the vm can't be running because the vm's system disk has to be unmounted before checking it with fsck. So I'm thinking I have to leave the vm shutdown. Can I fsck the vm's disk from the Proxmox console? Eric

Open Media Vault VM crashing when copying between CIFS shares

Good morning all! I'm having problems with an Open Media Vault VM on Proxmox and am seeking advice on how to debug the issue. I have an OMV 6.0.latest VM running on Proxmox 7.4-3. The OMV VM is configured to serve up multiple CIFS shares. The harddisks behind the shares appear to be working...

Add custom screen resolution to a VM console

That sounds great. But, I'm on OSX, and the SPICE clients don't seem to be stable at this point, at least from what I've read.

Add custom screen resolution to a VM console

I'm hoping to add a custom screen resolution for viewing the console of a VM. The VM is running Ubuntu 23 MATE, and I'm currently using NoVNC for viewing. I have the VM configured as follows... I tried adding a custom screen resolution (1624 x 960) directly into the Ubuntu VM, using two...

    Very slow backups

Yuck. They should put a warning label! Maybe I'll swap it for another SSD. Is there any good reason to have an HDD?

    Very slow backups

I don't think it's VM related. In looking at the backup log, all VM backups have been very slow. Never more than 4-5 MB/s. And they've all been in a stopped state, except for the first one.

    Recovery question

Thanks for the clonezilla idea. My Proxmox node is running on 2 SSD drives. The proxmox system itself and a handful of VMs are stored on the first SSD. The rest are on the second SSD (which is developing hardware errors, BTW).

    Recovery question

I'm in disaster-recovery mode, and have a question. My Proxmox node (v6) no longer recognizes some of its VM's, and I wish I had newer backups. If I try to create backups, I just get error messages. Can I do something like this... 1) From Debian, copy the contents of my VM logical volume to...

    Check of pool satassd/data failed

Hi everyone. I'm getting an error message when I try to create a VM: Check of pool satassd/data failed (status:1). Manual repair required! I tried running lvconvert --repair pve/data. However, this gives the error: Active pools cannot be repaired. Use lvchange -an first. So, I ran lvchange...

    Reduce size of thin-pool?

Is it possible to shrink the size of a thin-pool? I need to extend the pool's metadata LV, so I want to reduce the data LV to make room. Right now, the data LV is leaving the PV and VG with no free space. Can I do this with lvreduce? Is there a file system on the data LV that I need to...
