Hello community, I hope you are having a great time

I have virtual machines with Windows Server 2022, the backups of the virtual machines were around 12GB.

I did a test copying large files to the virtual machine and indeed the size of the backup file grew. I deleted them again and made the backup, now the backup does not reduce its size.

What do you recommend me to do? I saw some options "DISCARD" and "TRIM" should I execute that command inside the VM? On Windows?

I thank you for your help in advance.

You need to enable the “Discard” option for your VM. Windows should then issue the TRIM command itself when needed. This should be supported if you run any newer Windows OS. The disk image should then be shrunk. All of this may take some time, though.
