I've had a look through the threads for users who have experienced the same issues with being unable to take snapshots on VM's, however, my VM's are using the qcow2 virtual disk format.
It weirdly seems limited to just the Windows Servers, however, Windows 10 Pro and Linux servers seem...
I’m currently installing 3 pve hosts in cluster mode with an iSCSI EMC array, everything is redundant : 2 ToR switches for the servers , 2 switches for the iscsi traffic. We’ve chosen this solutions to migrate from ESX (too expensive).
I’ve read a few articles / posts related to PVE...
i have a problem with proxmox 7.3
the ZFS snapshots seem to have a problem as they can't be accessed, it's like it says the snapshot has been taken but not really, in proxmox 7.2 this works correctly.
any ideas please?
Hi out there!
I am wondering what I did wrong that I cannot create tree-snapshots / nested snapshots with proxmox?
Means something like

| | +-aSnapshot01-subSnap01-subSubSnap01

I am running a 5-node HA ceph cluster. I like to occasionally look for old snapshots that are no longer needed so I can remove them. I have been trying to figure out a good way to scan the entire cluster for snapshots but have not had good results so far. Currently I run this command on...
From my wiki reading (perhaps missed details and thus my confusion) some things aren't entirely clear so I wanted to hopefully get some more details here.
I have an LXC guest on Proxmox 7.2 with ZFS compression enabled:
zfs set compress=zstd rpool/data/subvol-211-disk-0
The volume is currently...
Hallo liebes Forum,
habe 2 VMs gleich erstellt - 2 machen anstandslos Backups auf meine NAS von QNAP
die 3.te schreibt folgenden Fehler ins Log:
2022-03-13 01:00:05 INFO: Starting Backup of VM 103 (qemu)
2022-03-13 01:00:05 INFO: status = running

I have just finished setting up my second homelab host and come to the horrible realisation that my 2 x 2TB and 4TB disks are all LVM and have running VM's on. I tried to take a snapshot, only to realise that I cannot make a snapshot due to it being LVM on the disks. I would like to...
Proxmox stopped working secondary to LVM full storage.
LVS command shows data 100% and several files labeled snap_vm...
I would like to delete these snapshots so that I can restore functionality for the VM's, which currently will not load secondary to full storage.
I attempted: qm...
Da ich auf der Suche nach eine zentralierte Lösung für meine Backups bin, muss ich hier fragen, ob es mit PBS möglich wäre externe Speicher zu sichern?
Was meine ich damit?
Mit PBS kann man ja leicht die VMs und die Containers aus PVE sichern, aber eine VM bei mir läuft auf...
I am planning on using sanoid/syncoid or something similar to perform snapshots and backups of my zfs pool(s).
I understand that I can add packages and/or do whatever I need in the host debian environment, but I was wondering if I can do the same inside an lxc container with the host...
There's something I think I'm doing wrong. I have Proxmox on a host with a ZFS pool inside. How do I best access the files on the ZFS volumes from containers?
I have read suggestions to serve the files over NFS directly from the host. This seems like a round-about way (ZFS > host > NFS >...
I had a VM with the ID 135 that was re-deployed under the ID 105. To keep the backups from the old machine, I did the following on my datastore:
mv vm/135 vm/105
I then switched the backup job in Proxmox VE to backup the new VM 105.
This seems to work as all my previous backup from my...
We have a backup schedule for PBS that run at 23:00 EST everyday. The issue we have is that the naming scheme for the snapshot seems to be built using a different timezone.
An exemple would be if we backup a VM the 21 of May at 23:00 EST, the snapshot name would be 22 of May 3:00
I am curious about snapshots of my ubuntu vm: When I create snapshots with RAM enabled, there is automatically an entry for a ZFS dataset of 21.1 GB added - regardless of filesystem changess.
hmir/data/vm 194G 953G 96K /hmir/data/vm...
I've been reading through the wiki and the various posts, but I am beginning to have the distinct understanding that having sharing files/folders between CTs in unprivileged containers without bind mounts is not something that is available?
I am currently running two ZFS pools and I have a...
I have a question regarding the content of Grub Menu vs. /boot/grub/grub.cfg.
In my case the content is inconsistent.
And this is causing an issue with booting a BTRFS snapshot, because the
required snapshot won't boot with the options displayed in Grub Menu.
I'm running these software...
Proxmox doesn't permit to take a snapshot when your VM has a passthru device attached, which sounds rational since snapshots by definition "freeze" (save) the whole state of the VM and that's impossible for non-emulated hardware.
BUT there are some scenarios where I think it's still useful...
I’m running a fairly active but small budget Proxmox cluster for circa one year now. Meaning depending on the current project workload it only consists of 3-4 nodes and uses ZFS due to its replication capabilities which allow nearly HA-like failover times (5 to 10 minutes in my case) with a...
