What are some strategies that people use to backup/clone/automate/etc OS disks and configurations?
I've read a number of threads on this topic - varying from clonezilla backups, automated config managers, zfs send cron jobs and many more. Many are outdated and I am curious if there are more recent, improved methods.
I manage a basic three node cluster running Ceph storage. Each server has a ZFS mirror boot. I am planning to create a set of Prox OS boot disks that I can have sitting ready to go at a moment's notice. I like the idea of syncing the zfs partitions of my production boot disks to a cloud repo where I can pull down and push to these backup disks if/when needed.
Are there any considerations concerning licenses or Ceph configs? Or other potential complications to this method?
