So, here is the thing. I have a dual SFP+ NIC that works well. I also wanted to place a 2.5Gbe Quad card into my proxmox machine. I am simply trying to do a Linux bridge within proxmox. The card is seen but won't become active. I tried a dual 10Gbe card and it was seen and would become active with no problem. I have tried two different Quad 2.5Gbe but proxmox does see it yet it won't become active to give any ip link or anything. Any solutions? thanks! Here are some photos to reference what is active but not. thanks in advance! Been trying to wrap my brain around it for the past week ordered a second/different quad 2.5gbe card still the same. I prefer a quad 2.5gbe because my unifi switch ports are all 2.5gbe.

Please help :(

Hi,
do you see the nic in the output of lspci -vvv? What model is this? Maybe you need to install an out of tree driver for that card?

Edit: Also check the journal for errors journalctl -b

i wonder maybe i need to install drivers for them, but i have no clue how? thanks!

Since you state the device gets detected and the link shows up, please post the output of ethtool <ifname>. Note that you will have to install ethtool first by running apt install ethtool.

This should give more information about the status of the interface.

What is the issue you are facing? The interface does not seem to be configured in your case. Please share the output of cat /etc/network/interfaces and state what the exact issue is. Also, please have a look at possible network setups as described here https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Network_Configuration
thank you for you reply, it was my fault, i think the adapter gets up with a wired connected, but it became active when attached to a vm
