I need to increase the size of the disk at KVM Windows 10 machine. I'm using VirtIO drivers and qcow2 image format. I performed this steps:

  1. Shutdown the VM
  2. Resize the disk from Proxmox GUI.
  3. Restart VM
  4. I'm going to Windows Disk Manager and nothing changing. I can not see the unallocated new space to resize my disk.

I missed something? Thanks in advance.

- In Windows 10, make a normal shutdown (not the fast shutdown/reboot that's default in windows 8/10), from cmd / powershell:
shutdown -s -t 0
- After that resize the virtual disk (skip this step if you already had resized it)
- Restart VM
- check from diskmgmt.msc if you have free space to extend you partition
