Hey I'm pretty new to proxmox (and zfs) been using it for about a month or two and really like it so just wanted to say thank you right away. However there are a couple things I don't fully understand, I think it will be clear after I explain what I'm trying to do and...
Hi All,
I'm very new to Proxmox VE.
We have a RAID-5 local disk size of roughly 240GB. My manager asked me to install PVE. Allocate disk space with the following:
- ISO set to 10GB
- Backup set to 50GB
- The rest of the space for datastore, i assumed it for local-lvm.
How could i achieve his...
Hi Proxmox,
I had 3 SSD and will create a RAID-5.
The usable size roughly will be 2TB after the RAID.
I want to share 2TB for OS, VM and Backup by using partitioning during the pve installation.
1. What is the recommended pve OS disk size/partition?
2. What is the disk format should i use...
In an up to date Proxmox install, I have root on RAID1. There is another partition on ZFS, which has two VMs.
There is some free space in a deleted partition adjacent to partition 5, the ZFS partition (BTW across sda/sdb/sdc/sde), where partition 4 used to be. I am trying to get partition 5 to...
Good morning,
i laundhed a proxmoxVE 7 server from a cloud provider with 2TB of storage
when the installlation finishes and i open the dashboard, i see that my proxmox is using only a partition of 50Gb as mentioned in the picture bellow
and the other portion of the disk is empty and not used...
Is there a way to not wipe the entire disk on installation ?
I seek to preserve a pre installed microsoft windows partition and boot it as a VM.
I've done this before using Qemu and have a specific requirement to do so.

Hi. I currently have a server running Windows 10. For the data disks I am using bitlocker, snapraid and drivepool. I am running many services and want to test moving to proxmox. Most can be run on linux, but I am not ready to move all the data disks to zfs yet. I have ~45 TB now and not much...
I usually use the ISO to install Proxmox but it's very wasteful of drive space where it will automatically allocate about 100 GB to the local storage. Is there a way to tell Proxmox not to use that much space or do you have to install the OS First and then add Proxmox?
If you have to install...
Dear Forum Members,
how should I partition the main disks of my proxmox nodes?
I am in the process of setting up a small 3 node Proxmox Cluster (3x Intel NUC with 8GB RAM and 240 GB SSD each, one of them with an additional 512GB SSD). I want to use the cluster for running (home lab) Kubernetes...
Recently added an extra NVME drive to the system, using ZFS.
After adding it i'm lost as what is happening. ZFS appears to have 'absorbed' it but i cannot partition it. There appears no way to undo it etc.
I've definitely done something wrong but cannot progress, any pointers ?
Hi
I have a PowerEdge server with a Perc controller and 4 x 1Tb disks in a RAID5, Plus a hot spare.
Proxmox 5.3-1 all up set and running.
However I now need to add an additional 1Tb disk to the RAID.
From the Perc side of things that's all done. The Raid5 volume now has the 5 disks and the...
Hi all,
I've got a couple of Proxmox servers (single no HA) with SATA drives and getting a backup is a real pain.
It takes 50 minutes or so to get a 60-70GB of backup.
I'm planning to migrate a few of these servers into one new much more powerful server with the following drives/setup:
4 x...
Hello everyone,
i am kind of a noob when it comes to disks and resizing so i would very much appreciate some help.
First we have the proxmox host that has a 476GB Volume Group, vg0. This Volume Group consists of 3 Logical volumes that consist of the hosts swap, root and the VM Disk.
Total...
