Following the update of proxmox 5 to 6, the contents of the "local" storage (/var/lib/vz) of one of the servers of the cluster are no longer accessible from the web interface.
No problem to display the assembly summary,
However an error occurs when displaying the content (from any...
very similar to this ancient thread my local storage local2 does not realize what it is, it has a mount point and setting in fstab as told in tutorials, but it displays this sentence (while idling):
mkdir /dev/vg0/heavyload1: File exists at /usr/share/perl5/PVE/Storage/DirPlugin.pm line 109...
Newbie here, really impressed with Proxmox so far.
I have been using Proxmox for a few days, and so far everything is going really well. I have three nodes in my cluster, and can move workloads around amongst them and so forth. The first two that I setup were using defaults, so there is...
On any node belonging to PVE cluster I can see much more local storage utilization compared to what is stored on disk.
The screenshot attached here is from my MGR node that shows utilization of 62.91%, but /var/lib/vz is empty!
root@ld3955:~# ls -lR /var/lib/vz/
I'm new to Proxmox and am still confused on where to store each VM's application data.
I've read a lot of threads here but most of them focus on storing the actual VM files while I'm interested in where to store each application's specific data.
Example of the data I want to store...
I have a 6 nodes cluster with proxmox. I use nfs storage because it permits me to snapshoot and vm migration so, I am not using local-lvm in any node.
Can I delete local-lvm and expand root partition to take advance of my local storage? Is there any problem if I do it?

There seem to be some small issues with the "Directory Storage Type".
- The directory storage type generally allows to use local storage or mounted storage.
- It creates the PVE folder structure when created.
- It works just fine, could be used e.g. for CIFS mounts...
I recently installed Proxmox on a single node for a home lab running on an Intel NUC7. I am impressed by how well things are working and am really happy to have migrated from ESXi 5.5 to Proxmox.
I am still learning a lot and have become a frequent visitor of this forum for information.
After a few google searches, I found that live migration while on local storage is possible using the CLI. I was unable to do it using the GUI though. Is there some reason the GUI doesn't support shared nothing live migrations? Or have I missed a checkbox someplace?
I have a failing hard drive on one of our nodes. So I had to migrate my running VMs to another node. I succeeded but it was not as easy as I thought.
A little summary of the setup of that server. Proxmox 5.1 is installed on an hard drive. The pve volume group is on that drive. I have...
Offline migration fails for me when I try to move from a newer proxmox 4 install that has been upgraded to 5.1, to a older proxmox 5.1 install that started with proxmox 3.
The storage involved is not marked shared, but the older server has local storage configured as true plain local storage...
I installed proxmox since 2 months. I can install my VM easily.
But I have a problem with the "local" storage size.
By default, proxmox creates two storages => local and local-lvm.
All of my VMs are on local and nothing is on local-lvm but the local size is 100GB.
The size available on...
we have three nodes in a cluster
all are using nfs shared storage but for io intense vms we use local ssd mirror raids as a faster storage.
but what to do if i want to migrate a vm from one local ssd lvm-thin storage to another node without having to move the storage to the nfs before this?
I have a cluster setup with two server. On the second server I setup only the root / swap storage is showing up in the web UI:
But from the command line the box sees the data partition.
ACTIVE '/dev/pve/swap' [8.00 GiB] inherit
ACTIVE '/dev/pve/root' [96.00...
I have a two machine cluster.
Machine 1 = Master, is a Dell 2950 iii with all the storage and drives.
Machine 2 = Second, is a small Intel core i5 rig for a manual backup and testing.
They are joined to the same cluster and I can see both from the web interface. Most of the storage is mounted...
