I have 3 servers in the cluster, each server has-
1. 2 HDD hard drive and hardware Raid 1 for local storage and os storage
2. 1 SSD for Ceph use for HA.
I have 2 VMs in local-lvm(ext4) and 2 in Ceph storage.
My Ceph HA is working fine, it only fails when 2 out of 3 servers die.
I noticed that in the last few months, ceph is filling the /tmp partition on storage "local" more and more. Currently, there is more than 1,1T of data in there, all with ceph.XXXXXX folders containing cephfs_data subfolders. This hasn't been so "bad" before. Is that a problem with...
Experimenting with 2 nodes (+ QDevice) in my homelab. Old PCs, no enterprise-grade hardware. I have an LXC with a bindmount to a local disk (500GB, no shared storage available) on node1. The disk is not setup as a proxmox data store. Data rarely changes on this disk. Similar local disk available...
I have a 1TB SSD. If I use the default installation using the whole drive then it assigns 100GB to local partition, where I could only upload the ISO images and container templates. And the second partition local-lvm is the remaining 800GB for VMs.
I think 100GB for ISO images it too much...
I have PVE installed on a 500GB ssd with swap set to be 0 in installer. However, after a week, local in the node becomes full. What gives?
This local has 100GB but the usage reaches nearly 100%. I have never mounted any network storage to PVE nor made backup of VMs on PVE. However, I...
I have a four node PVE cluster, single 500GB disk on each node.
All nodes are configured with Ceph on lvm.
The lvm is taking most of the disk, with only about 50GB left for local storage.
I want to move a couple of VM disks from ceph to local.
How can I shrink the Ceph OSD, then...
I've created an cluster with two nodes. The problem seems to be on one node, currently there are running VM's on the local storage, but if I want to create an new VM he can't find the local storage during an communication failure / timeout (0) / connection timed out (596). I see the stats...
I am planning to set up a new proxmox VE on a stand alone HPE DL380 Gen9 that has a Smart-Array hardware RAID controller for storing the VMs. (no SAN or NAS storage)
I know I could set the controller to HBA mode, but I’d like to use the hardware raid features for easier raid management and...
Following the update of proxmox 5 to 6, the contents of the "local" storage (/var/lib/vz) of one of the servers of the cluster are no longer accessible from the web interface.
No problem to display the assembly summary,
However an error occurs when displaying the content (from any...
very similar to this ancient thread my local storage local2 does not realize what it is, it has a mount point and setting in fstab as told in tutorials, but it displays this sentence (while idling):
mkdir /dev/vg0/heavyload1: File exists at /usr/share/perl5/PVE/Storage/DirPlugin.pm line 109...
Newbie here, really impressed with Proxmox so far.
I have been using Proxmox for a few days, and so far everything is going really well. I have three nodes in my cluster, and can move workloads around amongst them and so forth. The first two that I setup were using defaults, so there is...
On any node belonging to PVE cluster I can see much more local storage utilization compared to what is stored on disk.
The screenshot attached here is from my MGR node that shows utilization of 62.91%, but /var/lib/vz is empty!
root@ld3955:~# ls -lR /var/lib/vz/
I'm new to Proxmox and am still confused on where to store each VM's application data.
I've read a lot of threads here but most of them focus on storing the actual VM files while I'm interested in where to store each application's specific data.
Example of the data I want to store...
I have a 6 nodes cluster with proxmox. I use nfs storage because it permits me to snapshoot and vm migration so, I am not using local-lvm in any node.
Can I delete local-lvm and expand root partition to take advance of my local storage? Is there any problem if I do it?

There seem to be some small issues with the "Directory Storage Type".
- The directory storage type generally allows to use local storage or mounted storage.
- It creates the PVE folder structure when created.
- It works just fine, could be used e.g. for CIFS mounts...
