The top commenters here are all professionals who plan and manage Proxmox deployments for SMBs or even large enterprises.
In a homelab, I’d simply leave out the SLOG, live with whatever performance the existing SSDs provide, and make regular...
Okay. In this case you obviously know how to calculate risks and handle problems. Congratulation. Really.
Actually I don't have much experience with a SLOG - I just don't have the use case to write so much data in SYNC mode that an SLOG would...
Hi everyone,
it's been a week since I changed the disk settings of all my virtual machines to
Cache: Default (No cache)
and the slow memory migration issue is no longer occurring.
I Have stable speed of migration:

My first thought is you’re overcomplicating Ceph. Why not one pool with lots of drives for resilience and more distributed I/O?
What does the top of the Ceph status page show when one host is off? Should not be worse than yellow.
Hi All
Brand new to Proxmox and mid first install, have used VMware for many years with out issues, so having a few teething issues with Proxmox, assume born from stupidity and trying to implement beyond my current level of understanding... So...
I've got three nodes in a cluster and the other two upgraded fine but the third one got this far and then the node showed as down in the UI and I can't SSH in to it either.
Any ideas why this might have happened? I'll have to do a hard reboot to...
Just bumping this thread
I realize my issue (osd_key completely missing from the bluestore label, not just an old/stale value) is a bit different from what's been discussed later in the thread. No worries if nobody's run into this exact case...

Hab mal aktualisiert!
Yes this works
But it should still be in VM Options
DisableSecureBoot() ( command -v virt-fw-vars >/dev/null 2>&1 || DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive apt-get install -y -qq python3-virt-firmware >/dev/null 2>&1 || exit 1; virt-fw-vars --inplace...
Yeah, you're reading it right. Sockets and cores are the maximum topology, QEMU needs that fixed at VM start, so those two fields are greyed out while the VM runs. The only value you can change live is vcpus, that's how many of the max cores are...
Hi @shodan,
thanks for posting on the forum!
There is an open feature request for that [1].
Feel free to leave a comment there to let our development team better gauge the importance of this feature and also so you get updated on any progress...
Currently in my testing env i am trying the hot-plug option it is working fine for the memory but when trying for the CPU it is not accepting the for sockets and core, It is only working for VCPU is i am getting it right .
This is a classic long tail problem issue,
a solution just annoying enough to discover, that wastes just a little time once in a while
a solution that looks easy once you've figured out that it does not feel worth fixing for real
Since that...
Noch eine Rückfrage:
In der GUI gibt es noch diese Warnung:
HEALTH_WARN: 1 auth client entities with insecure key types
Use the migration helper for cluster-owned keys and keys of compatible Ceph users. Leave user keys required by incompatible...
