I have been trying to set up my storage using a group of 900gb SAS drives in raidz(1) - and everythime I create it I am getting the error messages below.

I am just not sure how to do what it is saying I need to do, can anyone please help?

Edit: it is not just sdc, I tried to create a POOL without SDC and got the same error message but on SDE. I have tried fdisk, sgdisk, wipefs, and DD commands and have had no luck. What should I do?

cannot label 'sdc': try using parted(8) and then provide a specific slice: -3

Did you try to use the Gui? There is a "Wipe Disk" command button on the "<node>" - "Disks" page...

Best regards

Yes sorry should have included that - this is the message I get (when I wipe all drives)

wiping block device /dev/sdc dd: fdatasync failed for '/dev/sdc': Input/output error 200+0 records in 200+0 records out TASK ERROR: error wiping '/dev/sdc': 209715200 bytes (210 MB, 200 MiB) copied, 15.1361 s, 13.9 MB/s

'/dev/sdc': Input/output error
The system is not able to write (and/or read) Data to this device.
  • check the cables. Simple unplug them and plug them in again
  • test that drive in another computer, for example with an USB-Adapter
On the shell of the host:
  • look at the output of smartctl -l error /dev/sdc
  • does journalctl -b | grep sdc yield helpful information?
Depending on the results run a SMART (long) selftest.

Good luck

Thank you. Outputs are below.

Should I initialize the disk with gpt via the ui?

I am running the long smart tests now.
