What do you for Proxmox VE host backups? BareOS? Other suggestions?

I am planning a new Proxmox VE setup and would like to know what current PVE admins are doing for backups. I also need to backup older setups and archive them. Is anyone using BareOS for host baremetal backups? It has current Debian packages and has been mentioned in other forum posts.

For full-system baremetal backup of the PVE host itself I realize I could use straight DD, Clonezilla or similar tools but I am curious what other are doing here specifically for Proxmox.

I am not asking about data backups, this is covered in other posts/documentation:
For configuration-only backups, I found this blog post specifically for PVE which is in line with this forum comment indicating a small config backup should be enough to restore a PVE after a full vanilla-install. This has the benefit of being lighter but also requires better documenting your setup (and rehearsing :).

I'll update this post with my findings and eventually the documentation once I have proper access to the wiki.
