Upgrade from 5.X to 6.1 LXC with PVE 5.4

I have a 5 node Proxmox Virtual Environment currently running at version 5.4-13
I have a 2 node PMG service that I also run based on LXC containers.

Am I able to update the existing LXC containers (as supplied by the Proxmox team) to the latest version of Buster and Proxmox 6.1 while still keeping my base PVE environment at its current version?

hi,

you can do that. just make sure you have the latest version of pve-container for the debian buster support. (on stable-5 branch, this is pve-container 2.0-41).

you should be able to do an in-place upgrade. just follow the instrutions here[0] in your PMG container

you can take a backup of your container from PVE, just in case something goes wrong
