    Hi all!

Proxmox VE uses two different technologies for virtualization - KVM and OpenVZ.

What do you use? Please let us know!

    Hi Martin,

KVM Only, with iSCSI + LVM. Online migration and live backup needed.

    Christophe.

I use both KVM and OpenVZ. I use OpenVZ for uncomplicated Linux guests, I have one linux KVM guest, our VPN server, but that is because I ported it from VMware. I plan to use KVM for all the Windows guests. I like having the choice between full virtual machine virtualization and shared kernel virtualization.

    Hi,
the vote for both don't shows the relation of kvm/openvz - in my case 58/5.

Would like to see OpenVZ get the same level of importance as KVM.

Why is the relation of interest?

    Both.

Or rather.. KVM only where absolutely necessary. (windows servers or vyatta routers)

Openvz is lightweight... And very fast!

    Hi Dietmar,
depends on the goal of the survey. It's reminds me some time ago (pve 1.6?) where after some discussion you support two kernels (an kvm-only 2.6.35).
For my case - i can switch some nodes to kvm-only because I use only few openvz-VMs. This is meaning by relation.

KVM only. Mixture of local (for performance) and iSCSI LVM (for online migration).

    Both
KVM when I need HA or only option (windows)
OpenVZ when HA is not necessary, redundant web servers, memcached servers etc.

I would use more OpenVZ if I could easily use DRBD for storage.

I use best from both. Everything i can do with openvz, i will. If i didnt can use openvz i use kvm. Have 10 openvz and 5 kvm. Runs like a horse.

Both: OVZ where possible and KVM otherwise.
