Storage problem

Dear, hello everyone.
I have a storage server with truenas, on the other hand I have other servers with proxmox. What I need is for the disks of both the containers and the virtual machines to be stored on the NAS server.
But what happens, if the share is nfs I can create containers and not run snapshots, nor can I create virtual machines.
Now, if I do the share with zfs over iscsi I can create the virtual machines and have a snapshot but I cannot create containers.
Please, can someone tell me what solution you recommend for this, since I need containers as much as virtual machines, creating snapshots, migrating, etc. Or I have to die with one or the other.
According to the following table, the proxmox wiki talks about cephfs, but I don't know this or how to join it to my NAS server.

Thank you so much

This, I believe, is expected and proper. You need ZFS (as a built-in option).
nor can I create virtual machines.
Did you enable "images" content option on NFS storage. You can absolutely create VMs on NFS, if everything is configured properly.

Also expected, containers are not supported on ZFS/iSCSI soltions.

Cant you use both NFS and ZFS/iSCSI at the same time?

You cant, Ceph is a completely different type of storage compared to above two. I am sure there are more than a few youtube videos that make easy to understand comparisons.

Good luck

Thank you very much bbgeek17 for your prompt response, yes, i could have a share in nfs and another in zfs, but even in both I cannot take snapshots of the containers. any ideas?

ZFS is not the same as ZFS/iSCSI. ZFS is a local implementation vs ZFS/iSCSI over the network.

For containers the underlying filesystem MUST support snapshots. NFS does not, but for VMs you can store disk images as QCOW where snapshots are possible. Containers cant use QCOW.

Here is a list of supported storage types and their available functionality: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/pve-admin-guide.html#chapter_storage
The only one with Snapshots=yes and compatible with your NAS is ZFS/iSCSI. However, Containers cannot be stored there.

So, unfortunately, you cant have it all. One option - run containers in a VM, outside of PVE control and utilize VM snapshots.

As a side note, Blockbridge storage supports snapshots for both VMs and Containers. However, its not for personal use.
