Question about "Mount point volumes are also erased" when restoring a backup

I've seen some threads where people have mounts set up on the LXC itself, where you can see the mount from the Summary tab, and those mounts get deleted when doing a restore.

I have some mount points set up using systemd. For example, I used these steps setting up a mount for my Plex LXC: https://www.geekbitzone.com/posts/2...-proxmox-lxc/#Option1_Mounting_SMB-CIFS_Share

If I restore from a backup, will it delete the content of those mounts as well? If so, what can be done to restore a backup without losing that data? Would unmounting the share work? Is there a better way that doesn't involve manually undoing mounts any time you want to restore a backup?

You are confusing a container Mount Point (MP) with general system mount location for a networked file system (in your case).

This thread may be helpful: https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/v...t-points-will-be-wiped-during-restore.129550/

The easiest way to confirm what will happen and to avoid any miscommunication is to create a small test container, back it up, add a dummy/empty CIFS mount location, restore original, or any combination of the above. This should address your concerns and ensure you have a proper procedure in place.

Good luck
