Wanted to add my 2cents -- could not get 8.2 to work. Tried all the same things as everyone else in this thread. Tried 7.4, worked first try (booting from same USB drives as 8.2 also).
I just find out that installation did work with other usb SD card reader but other give me this error. So maybe there is something related to SD card readers too?

Can confirm. Had this issue and once I flashed to a regular flash drive it worked no problem. Tried 3 times with a card reader and no luck. Strange issue but glad the fix was easy.
