PROXMOX 8.4 and 9 crashes during intallation.

Hello everyone, This is my first post.
PC Specs: Lenovo M720q - i3-9100t, 16gb ram single stick, 256gb samsung 970 evo plus NVME (firmware: 2B2QEXM7), 65w power adapter.

I am running into problems during the installation. Every time during the install process the machine reboots.
I am using an USB to install images (proxmox 8 flashed via rufus dd method, and ventoy). Reading other post suggested to install ubuntu or debian to see if anything can be installed. Those fail as well.
With the proxmox install, the furthest I can get is to the 3% "Creating LV's" and then the reboot happens, sometimes it reaches 45% and the progress bar increases and it reboots. The NVME health in crystaldiskinfo is around 94%.
I used a live debian 13 usb and tried booting from it, it crashed when i tried normal boot, but it booted right away when i clicked the fail safe method. after booting i installed debian 13 to the NVME, and it went success first try, but when i tried to boot from the NVME, i get the debian startup page, where i can select 3 options, i clicked the first one "debian/unx linux" it gave a single line of some text and rebooted again, if i dont select any option in the "3 options page" it reboots. i tried this command, still no luck,
nomodeset pcie_aspm=off nvme_core.default_ps_max_latency_us=0. EDIT: i have tried different ram combinations, 2x4gb, or single 4gb, single 16gb, still nothing.

Try also booting without "quiet" option - maybe some hint will be visible.
And execute Memtest for a couple of hours.

Okay!, first I will reset the bios and update it to the latest version, hopefully that might solve the problem.
 
DISABLING TURBO MODE IN BIOS WORKED! IT DOESNT CRASH NOW, AND BOOTS INTO DEBIAN 13, SSD HEALTH IS GOOD, BIOS HAS BEEN UPDATED FROM 2019 TO 2026 VERSION. IF I ENABLE THE TURBO MODE, IT MIGHT CRASH AGAIN, NEED HELP TO SOLVE THAT ISSUE. THANKS!
 
The thermal paste may also be rock solid. Repasting might help.
Will check that! EDIT: the seller (whom i purchased the pc from) said he has repasted the thermal paste, he used this exact same pc to run proxmox, i dont know what happened, i might reset the BIOS, and enable/disable the required settings to run debian properly.

Assuming that the "Turbo mode" is what is actually causing your issues, this seems to indicate that the extra power usage is what is causing this.
This can be due to either the PSU being insufficient to provide the required power-draw, or that the cooling is insufficient for the extra heat generated.
Seemingly your system reboots rather than a hard-shutdown. I believe this is more indicative of a lower than required power draw.
Many Mini PC resellers bundle a sketchy PSU with the unit. I would try and find another suitable PSU to test.

Either way - your issue does not seem to be Proxmox-related. (You mention that the same occurs with a vanilla Debian install).

I think it is the PSU, the PC only warms up a bit when the turbo mode is enabled (during the crashes and unsuccessful installation progress), i will buy a new PSU to see if that's the problem, or use one of the Type C to Lenovo Square plug PD adapters.
 
I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION! I disabled Intel EIST in BIOS and ENABLED TURBO MODE, ASPM TO AUTO (it was set to auto before), C STATES TO THE LOWEST POSSIBLE (C10). It has been working without any problems! I stress tested the pc, no crashes or reboots.
If someone gets a similar problem like mine try updating the BIOS to the latest version and disable the Intel EIST. EDIT: ADDED AN IMAGE. EDIT 2: the CPU draws 19.3w when at 100% load. And idles around 4% at 0.8w.
