Hi to All Guys,
I'm evaluating to install a "Nas OS" as a VM inside Proxmox, I've some bare metal, so I want to have NFS/SMB accessible from external, to allow access from others host in others building.
Which "NAS OS" VM do you suggest? Do you have some best practices about? I'm also thinking that maybe it could be done by proxmox directly, but I don't want to install modules/packages on PVE host.
Regards

I'm using Synology DSM on a VM via arc loader and I'm loving it. The next NAS OS I liked was Unraid and then TrueNAS, in that order. Whichever NAS OS you choose, if you're virtualizing it, make sure to passthrough the entire SATA controller instead of individual disks and set balloon=0 in memory config for maximum stability.
