Limit speed of backups

Hey,

My servers have an internal rack speed of 1Gbps but an external speed of 250Mbps. Each time the backups start, it =saturates the network card and most incoming connections to the server drop (websites unavailable, etc).
Is there a possibility, other then setting up a separate backup network, to limit the speed with which the proxmox backups are being taken?
If not, what would be the best practice to set up a separate backup network?

Yes, you can set the limit in /etc/vzdump.conf (bwlimit)

We experienced the exact same issue with ours even when traffic goes to backup network but diskio seems to give an issue. Limiting the bwlimit option in vzdump to 100000 made this far more stable and better and backups still complete within minutes. But iowait is now under 0.6 all the time

Thanks Sahostking! Indeed, the backups are running faster and there's free bandwidth for other applications. It seems like this setting is a real must.
