[SOLVED] Install hangs at nvidiafb: unknown NV_ARCH

I'm attempting to install Proxmox for testing on an old Dell workstation. I've got a GT 620 and a GT 1030 installed. The installer threw this error with both cards installed as described in this thread:

I tried adding

nomodeset vga=normal

to the config by pressing e but regardless of where I put it I get an error saying the command "nomodeset" could not be found.

How can I get this working? Promox looks promising if I can test it properly.

I swapped out the GT 620 for a GT 430 and now it works. Weird issue.
