For all those who think freedom is "free beer":

Quote from GPL:

The word “free” has two legitimate general meanings; it can refer either to freedom or to price. When we speak of “free software”, we're talking about freedom, not price. (Think of “free speech”, not “free beer”.) Specifically, it means that a user is free to run the program, change the program, and redistribute the program with or without changes.

No one doubts that you probably comply with the letter of the GPL, but at the same time you violate every ounce of its spirit with your nag screens. Your choice to post this little excerpt of the GPL in response only proves that you have no concept of what it actually means.

And I'll ask again: since Proxmox VE is 98% the work of others with your pretty little wrapper placed on top - what right do you have to demand payment when you don't share any of what is paid with the people whose work you so thanklessly redistribute? What have you contributed to KVM? What have you contributed to Debian? You know the answer - and it is exactly the same thing you so piously spew about others contributing to Proxmox. You've contributed nothing. Worse than that - you are willing to take profit from their work (for without their work Proxmox is useless).

So next time you bad mouth someone here for not 'contributing' go look in a mirror and realize you only accuse yourself.

The screen allows use the release everything as OpenSource, and even distribute binaries to everyone for free. We consider this model much better than what RHEL (hide binaries), Oracle (proprietary extension), or other players use.

Almost all your assumptions and statements are totally wrong but you are free to believe whatever you want. It is always the same story, people with strange names (piglover?) arrives in forums and tries to damage other reputation. This is called trolling.

As a moderator of this forum, I want to remind all that there are rules here. This forum is about Installation and Configuration of Proxmox VE only, so I will close this thread.
