Hi everyone,

I would like to share a new project with you: Ceph Dashboard for Proxmox VE.

As many of you know, Proxmox VE offers excellent integration for Ceph Storage. However, certain advanced features(S3) of the official Ceph Dashboard are not directly available within the Proxmox Web GUI. This project bridges that gap.

Instead of providing an alternative management UI or replacing existing Proxmox components, this project brings the official, natively developed Ceph Dashboard to Proxmox VE. It provides the necessary integration between PVE and the Ceph management components, allowing administrators direct access to the native Ceph Dashboard within their Proxmox-based infrastructure.

Features

  • Official Ceph Dashboard: Uses the dashboard developed and supported by the Ceph project.
  • Seamless Integration: Works directly within your Proxmox VE environment.
  • Direct Access: Cluster management, monitoring, and performance data at your fingertips.
  • Comprehensive Overview: View OSDs, MONs, MGRs, Pools, PGs, RBDs, and CephFS.
  • Up-to-date: Supports current Ceph and Proxmox VE versions.
  • No Vendor Lock-in: No proprietary extensions or replacement dashboards.

No warranty or support is guaranteed. If you have any questions, just ask.

Checking the licence of your project I see a non-standard licence. As Proxmox VE is using AGPLv3 and Ceph is using LGPL-2.1/GPL this might not be compatible.

Apart from the function names, which must conform to a specific pattern in order for it to work at all, the entire code is unique.

The license is simply intended to ensure that if any company clones and wants to use it and further develop things, these developments flow back into the public.
If you know of another standard license that ensures this, then I am open to changing it.

Why not use AGPLv3 then, that seems close enough to this goal?
AGPLv3 § 13 states:
If you modify the Program, your modified version must prominently offer all users interacting with it remotely through a computer network an opportunity to receive the Corresponding Source.

AGPLv3 § 13 states:
I specifically included the requirement that the code doesn't have to be provided on request, but rather proactively. Unfortunately, I don't see this implemented in AGPLv3.
