I'm trying to move VM from one node to another. I cannot use 'clone' because storage choosing option is unavailable.
So I created backup and moved it to destination node.
Now I'm getting error: no such volume group '<disk_name>' error.
Okay, this storage doesn't exist on this node, how can...
One of the first things I did after setting up my PVE was creating a basic installation of Ubuntu Server, get it set up with all the basic bits, and then convert it to a template.
I have cloned (full clone) this template a number of times and I did notice that each time I cloned it...
currently we're trying to create template based clones using Ansible's community.general.proxmox_kvm. To make the clones configurable we stick with cloud-init. We are building the template using a hand rolled Packer configuration which deploys fine (locally as well as in our production...
PVE newbie here.
1. How does the following wiki page apply to LXC Containers?
2. There's no mention of "snapshots" in the above wiki page, even though PVE 6.2-11 seems to feature snapshot feature prominently over "template." Is this above...
I have a cluster of 9 nodes in Proxmox. And I want to clone VMs on one of the nodes with a template from another node, but I get an error which says that the Proxmox Node is not allowed for this action. I also attached a screenshot with the error.
Does someone have any clue about this...
When I try to clone an existing VM from the (not-current/not-latest) snapshot, I get the following error (with the error seemingly randomly either related to scsi0 or efidisk0)? Is this expected or a bug?
The configuration of the source VM being cloned is as follows...
how do I resize my LVM and LVM-Thin?
I changed my main drive from a 60GB ssd to a 500GB ssd (cloned the drive with clonezilla). Then, I resized the root partition with gparted, and it seems all good so far. However, I do not see the extra space in LVM and LVM-Thin.
While the new ssd...
New to Linux so forgive my ignorance about anything. Hoping to switch off of HyperV. I setup a single 120GB SSD non-UEFI computer with the storage defaults (Not ZFS). I customized a great many things and then used a HDD duplicator to clone to a 250GB destination disk. To my surprise the cloned...
I followed the instructions from this page to create a vm:
qm create 9000 --memory 2048 --net0 virtio,bridge=vmbr0
qm importdisk 9000 bionic-server-cloudimg-amd64.img vms
qm set 9000 --scsihw...
When restoring a CT from a backup, we have the possibility to select the Unique option which generate unique properties like MAC address. It would be useful to have this option when cloning a CT from a snapshot.
I can't create VM from a template neither in the cluster with subscription, nor in cluster without it...
I get the same error:
# qm clone 105 135

I have a VM (ID 100) running some container on stored on a RAW drive (disk1)

Hi, I’m thinking of replacing the single SATA SSD (500GB Samsung 860 Evo) disk in one of my PVE6 cluster nodes with a 500GB Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe disk...
Should this simply be a case of using clonezilla to clone the SATA SSD to the NVMe and then booting PVE6 from the NVMe or would there...
I just want to clone a KVM Debian 9 virtual machine, it's just a stock image.
I'm trying with cloud-init, I need for each cloned machine different hostname and IP address (manually setted), obviously different MAC address.
I also need to execute a command and after that reboot the VM...
I use API interface to manage VMs.
I have a process that clone the collected VM ID into a new POOL.
Some cloned VM will not be in the POOL.
I use workaround. After the clone processes I check which VM located in the POOL. I add the missing VMs.
But the Pool members responses sometimes not...
I´m totally new to Proxmox .
My goal , after succesfully created one VM, is to use it to quick deploy it to many different nodes each one of them in a separate PVE.
Should I take a backup of my VM , upload to each PVE and create a new VM one from the original ? or thereis a better way to...
For some reason, cloning a VM (on the same storage) takes really long all of a sudden.
It used to take ~30 seconds or so to clone a ~16GB VM.
Now, it suddenly takes >10 minutes. AFAIK nothing about the host was changed.
Also, the cloning itself is still really fast (at least according to the job...
