I really love the idea of the Proxmox Backup Server. Kudos to you guys for the great product!! When do you expect to have support for Cloud Sync so one can store contents of the backup server in public clouds like B2, S3 etc?

I have a KVM host - Fedora 31 with about 10 vm's. They are old Windows - XP, Server 2003R2 & 2008 (not R2). I'm thinking I should move them over to Proxmox & use the backup feature to backup the vm's. Good idea or not? Currently, the vm's have no backup!

These are the SSDs I have: 5x Intel S3710 - 400GB --use for o/s & mon ? 25x Samsung PM853T - 960GB --use for OSD ? Is that correct? Looks like I have enough to build a 5 node cluster?

Forgive my Ceph lack of knowledge... Is a RAID controller needed for the Ceph disks? I assume the answer is no & the Ceph software should be in total control of the disks

Is Proxmox a type-2 hypervisor? I thought it was bare metal Type-1

Ok, that makes sense, using the nvme for VE and Ceph monitors.

Can you tell us what drives (nvme/ssd etc), what size you are using & for what functions?

You mean, install only the Proxmox operating system on the nvme SSD?
