never mind, it appears my log settings were set to "debug". I set it to "nolog" and don't see this above behavior anymore.

I realize that this "hook" idea was originally suggested to clean up local hdd usage space. However, I have used this idea for additional "push notifications" before (phase=="backup-start"), and after backup ends (phase=="backup-end"). Works really well. Thanks for the idea.
