Sorry i should be more specific.Erm… you usually connect Mailclients to appropiate MailSERVERS, not MailGATEWAYS ;-)
You would configure your backend mail to send mail out through the Proxmox gateway and then you would configure Thunderbird to send mail via the backend mail server.Sorry i should be more specific.
I am selfhosting an internal domain zone, Postfix+Dovecot+LDAP as backend mail servers and Proxmox Gateway. I want both internal and external email go through the mail gateway...
I will try that. Thank you!You would configure your backend mail to send mail out through the Proxmox gateway and then you would configure Thunderbird to send mail via the backend mail server.
To allow your backend mail server to send mail through your PMG you would add the backend mail server's IP address on the Mail Proxy -> Networks screen of the PMG admin interface.
Hi I did that but it is still not working. You would configure your backend mail to send mail out through the Proxmox gateway and then you would configure Thunderbird to send mail via the backend mail server.

jchamb2010 correctly said to route backend server mail through PMG. But he missed that Thunderbird should connect to the backend mail server (Postfix), not PMG. The PMG should only handle mail from servers, not end-user clients directly.Hi I did that but it is still not working.

Configure Thunderbird to connect to your Postfix server on port 587 with STARTTLS. Ensure Postfix allows authenticated connections from clients on port 587. Postfix then forwards mail to PMG, which handles filtering and external delivery.

You're right! My mistake for misreading your reply earlier. Thanks for clarifying!I missed no such thing:
