I want to add that I am having the exact same issue since updating to Proxmox VE 9. As far as I know, backups on version 8 were nearly always successful. My backup destination is a Windows Server 2019 SMB share. It seems very random which VMs...
You've got it. That's exactly why SUSE put OCFS2 on corosync, kernel DLM and Pacemaker. One membership, one fencing authority.
As for doing the same on PVE... someone still has to pay to develop, debug, and support it. Not my circus not my...

Hello,
I'd like to experiment with the new OCI container-in-LXC support in PVE 9. I've got a relatively simple container picked out to try (basically, an internet uptime monitor to detect WAN disconnects), but it's going to need a bit of...
Short update, sorry for the long silence and missing communication. It has proven quite difficult to tame AI scrapers, which required us to block expensive operations from public access. Like the scrapers will fire in the thousands of db heavy...
It looks like the procedure was ineffective. Here are comparisons before disabling shares and after disabling drive shares from Datacenter > Storage > Edit.
This is df- hT before disabling. Note both Synology and ISO_Storage are listed.
After I...

Instead of guessing, this might shed some light on the situation, if your hint concerning the CPU is correct:

I did not. I ended up doing a fresh install, which didn't solve the problem, and I ended up trying a couple of different things, including disabling memory ballooning, moving the workloads to a new VM (set up as a q35 instead of an i440fx)and...

Yes, broadly that is the intended model.
Each disk generation is a fully allocated LVM LV. When a snapshot is created, the current generation becomes the immutable snapshot and a new fully allocated writable generation is created.
dm-clone is...
maybe this was the reason why SUSE/SLES supported only OCFS2 in combination with pacemaker/corosync & kernel DLM .... I'm not a cluster stack / FS developer but imho why not switching the pacemaker CRM to the PVE cluster manager and provide...
Or to be more blunt: Just because somebody want everything to work like vmware that doesn't mean that it makes sense. ProxmoxVE and the underlying technologies are after all a different system with it's own tradeoffs, pros and cons.
Fair point. Reflink with sparse raw files gets you thin provisioning and snapshots without qcow2... so qcow2 metadata is out of the picture.
What's left is the stuff underneath. o2cb has its own heartbeat and fencing that doesn't know corosync...
how should this work in more detail ?
- on thick LVs are the snapshots then also initially standard/thick ones with all the performance impact ?
- will dm-clone convert them meanwhile in the background to full/independent "snapshot" clone LVs ...
