Yes, broadly that is the intended model.
Each disk generation is a fully allocated LVM LV. When a snapshot is created, the current generation becomes the immutable snapshot and a new fully allocated writable generation is created.
dm-clone is...
The original VM was using a VMware SCSI controller, while after the import Proxmox uses a different virtual SCSI controller.
The disk itself is fine, the fact that rebuilding the initramfs with: dracut --regenerate-all -f immediately fixes the...
As @xybo mentioned, the initrd isn't getting corrupted during the import. RHEL creates the iniitramfs during installation. When you install RHEL on an ESXI host RHEL detects that it doesnt need to put the various virtio-drivers into the...
Thanks, I found that same thing out. was busy getting other things setup and running. Thank you. I have begun adding the virtio and other virtio drivers to dracut on the vm's that are currently inline to get imported.
you dont have write access to /mnt/pve/ISO. check owners/permissions on the remote filesystem and/or nfs export. I also dont think you meant to use that location as your vdisk destination.
how should this work in more detail ?
- on thick LVs are the snapshots then also initially standard/thick ones with all the performance impact ?
- will dm-clone convert them meanwhile in the background to full/independent "snapshot" clone LVs ...
Ran into an edge-case with a PBS virtual machine that had the chunks stored the host, backed by virtiofs. Garbage collection would consistently fail with "ENFILE: File table overflow"
Finding the limit wasn't the easiest since it isn't enforced...
Fair point. Reflink with sparse raw files gets you thin provisioning and snapshots without qcow2... so qcow2 metadata is out of the picture.
What's left is the stuff underneath. o2cb has its own heartbeat and fencing that doesn't know corosync...
Don't setup a PVE that is EoL and unsupported (running a kernel version with known vulnerabilities); please upgrade to the latest PVE 9.2 (and the new default kernel 7.0).
Hi everyone,
I had a very similar problem with live migrations and thought I would share my findings.
I have a 3-node Proxmox VE 9.2 cluster with 10 Gbit links between the nodes. After just rebooted nodes, migration performance is good,
and...
Hi,
please share the VM configuration of an affected VM qm config ID with the numerical ID of the VM as well as the output of pveversion -v and full system journal from the source and target node from the boot until and including the problematic...
Hello,
I've been using Proxmox for a couple of months now, and so far it's been a very pleasant experience. I have found one problem though. I am doing remote backups to Acronis cloud environment. Everything has been working fine, but...
@TheBigOne short answer: you didn't miss anything. There is no VMFS for Linux and GFS2/OCFS2 aren't it.
VMFS did one job and VMware controlled everything around it. GFS2 and OCFS2 are mid-2000s designs for small database clusters on spinning...
