Thank you! Perhaps at the time when I had this problem (with Proxmox and older versions of Windows) this would have helped, but I solved the problem from the other side: I found and eliminated the reason why I needed to use only the old version of Windows and now everything works on any system.

That's arguably the better solution! Unfortunately the software I'm using is limited to 2008R2.

I just got the problem, Windows 2008 R2 (and seems 7 too) require driver for the virtual USB3 controller, here it's Renesas model ( VM Type 7/2008R2 / SeaBIOS / pc-440fx-8.1 )
There is an all-in-one package made by simplix https://blog.simplix.info/win7usb3/
Rename .exe to Win7USB3+.exe and put in C:\Windows to silent install.
