Hi,

I'm looking for a way to carry tagged frames over VxLAN (even static ones [no EVPN-BGP] is ok)
Is such a configuration supported by ProxMox 8?
I found this document

https://git.proxmox.com/?p=pve-docs.git;a=blob_plain;f=vxlan-and-evpn.adoc;hb=HEAD from (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/vxlan-setup.46274/)

I see there that the only VXLAN layer2 with vlan unware linux bridges is documented.
I guess I would need VXLAN layer2 with vlan aware linux bridges, right?

Can I just add to bridge whose the vxlan is a port member

bridge-vlan-aware yes
bridge-vids minid - maxid

to achieve what I want?

Cheers,

Alex

Thanks @jsterr , but the link you gave seems to provide less details, unless I miss something. In case would be so kind to helping me in spotting the place where I can find the answer to my question, please?

Alex

Hi Alex, I was not sure if you are aware with the SDN Plugin. The provided link shows howto install this plugin in PVE. There is support for VXLAN there via UI: https://pve.proxmox.com/pve-docs/chapter-pvesdn.html#pvesdn_zone_plugin_vxlan Maybe I understood your question wrong, many are not aware of the plugin so thats the reason mentioning it.

Indeed the link you gave me is about the plugin for VxLAN.
The link I posted provided further details on how to usee VxLANs (static, with mcast, with EVPN-BGP).
VxLAN can just stretch VLANs at the ends or can carry tagged or double tagged frames, I have experience with other implementations.
Since in the link I found, ProxMox devs just mention vlan unaware Linux bridges (to just stretch traditional VLANs from one end to the other) I would like to understand if for my purpose I need, as I think, vlan-aware bridge, and if this setup is supported.

I hope my request is clearer now :)

@spirit might be able to help here
