Hello,

Does anyone ever use Virtualbox for their VM?

if so, do you guys experiencing the same as me such as when im already setting up maximum storage in Virtualbox setting which is 2TB, but when it already running long enough maybe around 2-3 months i try deleting data to free up my storage in Guest VM and i got around 900GB of free storage, but when im looking at the .VDI file in Host Storage it already consume up to 1.9TB.

Does anyone know how to free up .VDI because i cannot find the way through forums and reddit how to deal with it.

Thank you

First of all, this is a Proxmox Forum, not a Virtualbox forum. On top of that this is the wrong section (Networking and Firewall) for such a question anyways.

I don't have any experience with Virtualbox, but I guess the VDI files work similar to qcow2, in that you have to manually shrink it because of Snapshots and since the storage cannot differentiate between deletes and zero writes. A quick google search brought me to this: https://superuser.com/questions/529149/how-to-compact-virtualboxs-vdi-file-size
