View / explore file inside a VM like in a CT

Bonjour,

It's no possible unless if we install a backup agent in the vm itself? Am i right ?

giving easier access to backed up VM images without restoring them is work-in-progress. file-level access is not possible unless you count mapping the image into a VM and using guest tools there to mount/view the contents. you can always install the backup client inside the VM and do file-level backups that way though.

Has there been any progresses made on this ?
We have a customer with an already existing internal VM backup solution, but i'd like to unify the backup and pickup PMB as a target.

nothing released yet for stream-lined file restore. but note that you can already map a VM backup as read-only block device and access that manually with the usual linux tooling - so as long as you can activate/map/.. the disk images you can also access the files (inside a VM, or on a host that has client access to the PBS backup.
