Friendly reminder that Ceph Nautilus is going EOL in July 2021, with only one final release (14.2.22) currently planned. If you still run a Ceph 14.2 Nautilus setup, we recommend planning an upgrade in the upcoming weeks or months to Ceph 15.2 Octopus, which at the time of writing is the newest supported release.

Some Q/A:

Q 1: Will my Ceph Nautilus cluster stop working?
A 1: No, it will continue to work, but you won't get any updates for bug and security fixes.

Q 2: Can I seamlessly upgrade to a supported release?
A 2: Yes, you can upgrade to Ceph Octopus by following our upgrade how-to: https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Ceph_Nautilus_to_Octopus

Q 3: How long will Ceph Octopus get support?
A 3.1: For Proxmox VE 6.x: Until EOL of the 6.x release, roughly at end of Q2 2022
A 3.2: For the upcoming Proxmox VE 7.x release: At least until end of Q2 2022

Q 4: When will Ceph 16.2 Pacific be made available?
A 4: Ceph Pacific will be made available with the upcoming Proxmox VE 7.x release in Q3 2021

Is it still possible to use a proxmox 7 cluster with an "seperate"/"Standalone" Ceph-*Nautilus* Cluster?

Exist a Matrix where we can see, wich Ceph-Versions are possible with Proxmox 7?

If the cluster is separate can’t see any reason why as Proxmox really isn’t doing any interaction directly with CEPH it would be down to the version of QEMU/tools and if there was any breaking changes with older versions of CEPH.
