Understanding data/space retribution in PBS

Hi all,

After having decommissioned a PVE node, I've manually removed each VMs backup within that specific PBS PVE name space used for that PVE host. After what I've delete the name space and ran a garbage collection. It's been a good week now and I cannot see my datastore shrink its usage in size.

Is there anything I've done wrong? Or anything I do not yet know?

Let me know,
Thanks a lot,
M.

Did you wait for 24 hours and 5 minutes between deleting the namespace and doing the GC? If not that GC you ran didn't deleted anything and you need to run the GC again.

And in case you are using ZFS it will only trim the pool once a month by default. Then a zpool trim YourPool might help.

Hum can't remember but most certainly not on the 1st GC attempt. I'm using "poor man's" NFS storage =)
