GOAL:

Successfully install proxmox 8.3

ISSUE:

  • Unexpected behavior from the FQDN entry
  • When default entry is kept, the ip_assigned:8006 doesn't work
  • When you try to change it, you get error messages like
    • "host name must match ip4" (or something like that)
    • when I attempt to leave blank, get error saying its mandatory (despite me reading it isn't "mandatory" unless you want to do something fancy for public facing domain (subdomain etc)

WORKAROUND:

Use the terminal installer (great tui/ncurses)

  • you have ability to change it in terminal installer, and the assigned ip address:8006 works fine.

RECOMMENDATION:

  • match terminal installer behavior with gui installer
  • give option to leave blank
  • include field description (similar to the explainer text above menu)
