I run pve and pbs on two sites (my home, parents home) both on version 4.1.0. I sync via a pbs push job from home → parents. Today i read the push job log and noticed the following
Code:
2025-12-18T10:12:37+01:00: Starting datastore sync job 'pbs-parents-push:home-offsite-backup:backup::s-93ffd9e4-5feb'
2025-12-18T10:12:37+01:00: sync datastore 'backup' to 'pbs-parents-push/home-offsite-backup'
2025-12-18T10:12:38+01:00: ----
2025-12-18T10:12:38+01:00: Syncing datastore 'backup', root namespace into datastore 'home-offsite-backup', root namespace
2025-12-18T10:12:38+01:00: Found 15 groups to sync (out of 15 total)
2025-12-18T10:12:38+01:00: Group 'ct/100' contains no snapshots to sync to remote
2025-12-18T10:12:38+01:00: skipped: 10 snapshot(s) (2024-12-29T04:05:36Z .. 2025-12-18T04:06:59Z) - older than the newest snapshot present on sync target
...
The sync runs fine. Backups appear as expected on my parents site pbs. The thing that surprises me is the line Group 'ct/100' contains no snapshots to sync to remote. My vms and cts (at both sites) start with id of 200. I don´t have any system with id 100 (as far as i know). Here is a screenshot from my pbs datastore 'backup'. Where does the id 100 come from?

Hi,
this might indicate that you have a leftover empty ct/100 group folder in your datastore. These are not shown in the UI. Groups are cleaned up if all the snapshots containing it are pruned, there was however a different behavior in older versions, not removing them, see https://bugzilla.proxmox.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3336. So the empty groups might be leftovers from pruning snapshots with older version. You can simply remove the folder (should contain only a owner file, nothing else) from the datastore if that is the case.

Thanks. That solved the issue.
Folder was in /mnt/datastore/backup/ct/100 containing only the owner file.
