[TUTORIAL] Script for Proxmox Email notifications configuration

Hello everybody!

As beginner, i had some difficulties getting Proxmox e-mail settings configuration up and running.
I recently wrote a little script to get the configuration done with ease on my youtube channel and guessed it may interest some of you.

If this post goes against any of the forum rules, all my apologies, please delete it.

The script was wrote with Gmail configuration in mind but it have been tested working with Infomaniak and should work for a wild bunch of servers.
I have wrote it with all my knowledge and love but it may be incomplete but it does work and is really easy to use.

there's a demonstration of this script there, it's in french but the script is wrote and commented in english.

USAGE:
This tool is now included in Proxmox Toolbox:
Please find more informations about it in Proxmox forum, on github or watch a demonstration (and improve your french)

For Gmail, another step is needed, you need to allow less secure apps in your account settings:
https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps

bash ez_proxmox_mail_configurator.sh

For Gmail, another step is needed, you need to allow less secure apps in your account settings:
https://myaccount.google.com/lesssecureapps

It'd be nice in English, but generally clear

But it did not work for me.

I do use 2-steps verification in gmail and with other services use application specific password.
Is your script handling this ?

This script is actually not handling this: i could add support but i have no time ATM, so if you feel confident, you may want to open a PR!

For 2fa you may want to follow thoses steps: did no tried myself but looks OK

what if I want to stop email notifications from being sent?

I wish not to configure my smtp, and it blowns my syslog with attemps/error postfix.

Muito bom, funcionou perfeitamente aqui pra mim. O PROXMOX envia automaticamente emails, porem sem autenticação e com isso alguns provedores bloqueam pensando ser SPAM, com essa configuração tudo foi resolvido e vzdump agora envia os alertas perfeitamente!!! Genial!!! Parabens!!!
