I have been working Proxmox for about a year and a half now and feel pretty comfortable with the platform. I can create VMs/containers, manage storage (using Ceph), handle networking, create cloud-init templates, etc.
Now I want to take the next step and automate my infrastructure. I have some lofty aspirations, but currently I have been using OPNsense & Proxmox for my business to run non-critical software I have developed, self-host open-source software that's useful for the business, VPN server, and much more.
What I want to automate:
I know this is a very general question, but where do you recommend I start?
Which platforms are redundant (competitors)?
I like to keep things simple/stupid. The only type of orchestration I'm using right now is Docker Swarm w/ Dozzle & GitHub Actions (CI/CD)
In production I have a five-node Ceph cluster consisting of PowerEdge R740s & another five-node Ceph cluster consisting of mini-PCs (Nuc 14 Pro+, Beelink, Nuc 8 Tall).

What I want to automate:
- VM provisioning from templates
- Infrastructure as Code
- Configuration management
- Maybe even backup automation
