[SOLVED] QEMU Backing images

I noticed QEMU backing images aren't supported in Proxmox. I tried setting up a backing image using qemu-img and ran the machine off the delta only to have it crash. Will there ever be support for this feature? The ability to use the backing images would allow deduplication of like operating systems (i.e. a series of Windows or Debian VMs).

We already support that feature. It is used when you create a clone from a VM template (and the storage does not support cloning).

How are the deltas configured in the VM configuration file?

Simply create a VM template on local storage, then make a clone. You can then view the config files to see how it works.
