PVE Repository choice

That's maybe not right place to ask that but:
Why use a private git server instead of using Github?
I think it would be a lot more friendly for newcomers to help the development.

a similar discussion happened a while ago in another thread:
Live KVM migration without share storage

to summarize:
- we don't like dependencies on infrastructure managed by third parties
- github is not open source, but a proprietary walled garden
- gitlab is very heavy-weight, both from an administration and from a lines of code/complexity point of view
- we (/most of the active devs) actually prefer patches/git-send-email to web-based pull requests
