Hi All
I'm looking to set up PVE on a home server setup.
I'm looking to run several VMs for my home network, where I combine a bit of tinkering with what I'd like to think is useful tech.
I want to run Apache DS, FreeRADIUS, Plex Media Server, Nextcloud, and maybe a few other projects that tickle my fancy along the way.
For a start, my priority is Apache, FreeRadius and Nextcloud.
So here's my thoughts...
- I already have two NAS units configured for file storage.
- The server for the intended PVE build has two gigabit network ports and my switch has a backplane with more than enough throughput capability.
- The NAS units are already set up with FreeNAS and make use of redundant ZFS arrays. Their limited computing power however is in no way stretched in their current role as file hosts.
Can I set up the VM's on a redundant array under PVE, but point, for example, the Nextcloud VM to the NAS unit for file access and storage?
The unit I'm going to build the PVE on is only capable of hosting 4 SATA drives.
Thanks in advance for all assistance and guidance
