Proxmox Virtual server work very slow

with X2 5310 Quad-Core

so you have 4 cores on the host node?

CPU Sockets: 2
Cores/Socket: 4

And you run a VM assigning 8 cores?

If so, this is expected to be extermely slow - never assign more CPU cores than you have.

CPU(s): 8 x Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5310 @ 1.60GHz

its server with x2 E5310 (quad core CPU)

Hi,
try the vm with only one cpu - due my test with smp the rip-program takes a long time to start with 4 cpus - with 2 cpus it's starts faster - app. half time (and work also a bit faster).
Perhaps you will have with one cpu the normal speed?
