Proxmox VE 2.1 released!

Hey guys,

great work, I love proxmox! ;)

But I don't really know which version I have. There are shown two different versions:


  • on the right side from the proxmox logo of the webui --> version 2.0-54/4b59ea39
  • node pve manager version --> 2.1-1/f9b0f63a

Are the webui and the pve manager two different developed parts of proxmox?

Hi Proxmox Staff,

is there a chance to get an 2.6.18 Kernel for the 2.1 Proxmox release? Why?! Because i have an older VM Machine, that use a Sentinel SuperPro Dongle. The Software, that needs the dongle, didn´t find the dongle and works only with the 2.6.18 kernel but not with newer kernels. The dongle isn´t the problem. For the software there isn´t an update :(

no, there is no 2.6.18 for 2.x series. try to find the reason why it does not work on 2.1

thanx for the answer. I have tried a lot to finde the reason. The problem must in the kernel over 2.6.18. The software for the dongle isn´t compatible with kernel over 2.6.18. I have tried different cpu mode, os modes, software compatiblity mode. Do you have any hint, that i can try, that the software works?

I'd like to ask if there are plans to implement ALL functionality of command-line vzctl tool into the PVE API?
There are many things that are missing in the web interface and the API (obviously), like vzctl exec, setting noatime, changing userpassword, changing I/O priority or adjusting UBC.
I know I can start hacking in the GIT repository and do it myself, but I prefer to stick to the official and stable versions of Proxmox and I believe these features will be much appreciated by many users.
 
the plan is implement all feature without any bugs.

but we live in world with limited resources and if you need something special you can either try to implement it by your own or convince others to do it. most times developers works for cash.

It works since v2.0 well.
7 containers and more than 10 HVMs over iSCSI.
Everything works fine.
 
same here. Running Proxmox 2.1 on an Dell PowerEdge R800 with 10 Openvz and 5 KVM machines on an iscsi storage. Very stable.
 
I have a problem after update to 2.1

The new kernel is set in the grub.cfg but the boot menu shows me only the older kernels.
Even older kernels which i have uninstall.
update-grub didn't helped.
I can't boot the new kernel !!
