Hi there,

didn't know where to ask this. But I am curious if it would be possible to make Proxmox features compatible on Desktop OSs. I am thinking of something like Docker, Virtualbox or Virt-Manager, which can run as a Hypervisor and on a Desktop. I think Developers would appreciate a Proxmox on a desktop device and benefit from lightweight LXC Containers and the many other features of Proxmox. Perfect would be a compatibility with big distros like Ubuntu, Archlinux, CentOS and so on

Thanks for your reply, but I think ppl from other distributions would be more than happy to see Proxmox supported on their platform, too.
One could try to install it on Ubuntu or derived distributions, on their own of course and in a total unsupported setup. Everything else will not work without major changes.

That's more like a completely new product that has to be started from scratch than a new feature. PVE is a type 1 hypervisor, you want a type 2 hypervisor which is a very big difference.

I was never a friend of this type 1 and type 2 separation ... the line is fluid (e.g. VirtualBox also does support KVM for virtualization)
