Hello everyone,

I am running Proxmox VE where I virtualized Ubuntu Server LTS 22.04 and TrueNAS Scale as VMs and everything was working fine.

Recently, I have decided to add 4 more disks to my pool via HBA which is LSI SAS 9300-8i. After the upgrade, the boot load starts and gets stuck with this message as last:

Code:
mpt3sas_cm0: overriding MVDATA EEDPTagMode setting

The aforementioned LSI SAS 9300-8i is flashed to IT mode and both VMs are set to manually start after the boot.

I tried removing HDDs from HBA, but the error persists. Only when I remove the HBA from the machine physically, Proxmox VE boots normally.

I have seen couple of threads online with this problem, but from what I understood this was only shown as a warning during boot for those users.

How can I fix this problem?

I have the same error on mpt3 and mpt2 (have two flashed IT mode Dell Perc cards in the system)
But my system boot ok (dell R720xd) but not so good performance on the disk/pools side of things.
Just wondering if the problem is regards the MVDATA thing!

No newer firmware availables since 2016 I think.

I have the same problem. Were you able to solve it?
Sorry for the late reply, but I fixed the problem by reinstalling the whole system from scratch. Hopefully you have proper backups so the reinstallation can run smoothly.
