Hello,

I just noticed that there is a new utility called proxmox-backup-file-restore available within one of my PVE hosts updated. The description of the package reads the following:

"Proxmox Backup single file restore tools for pxar and block device backups
This package contains the Proxmox Backup single file restore client for restoring individual files and folders from both host/container and VM/block device backups. It includes a block device restore driver using QEMU."

I haven't found any additional details about this, maybe it is possible to have a brief explanation from where and how we can use this new tool?

hi,

see here our roadmap for the new version [0]

Backup and Restore
  • Implement unified single-file restore for virtual machine (VM) and container (CT) backup archives located on a Proxmox Backup Server.
The file-restore is available in the GUI and in a new command line tool proxmox-file-restore.

questions
latest version od pbs is installed, i cant find proxmox-file-recovery - not in the gui (of the pbs? Do the pbs and pve have to be in the same cluster?) neither as a command. And can't find in the repository....
Would it be on the pbs or pve-cluster?
